General Insurance Information

Helpful Guide to Understand Your Insurance: Preventative Visits vs. Sick Visits

  • Insurance Verification
  • Plan Limits
  • Co-Payments and Deductibles
  • Secondary Insurance Claims

Insurance Verification. It is the policy of ABCD Pediatrics to verify all insurance benefits before your child is seen. Should we be unable to verify your benefits by appointment day, we will require that you pay for the visit in full at the time of service, and you will be promptly reimbursed after the claim is filed and paid by your insurance company.

Plan Limits. Many plans have limits and/or exclusions that apply to your child’s medical care and each plan is unique. We recommend that you check with your insurance company about your particular plan in advance to find out what is covered, and how much they will reimburse you for our medical services. To the extent that we are able to determine in advance what your portion of our medical services will be, we will expect payment at the time of service.

Co-payments and Deductibles. Your plan may require you to pay a co-payment and/or meet a yearly deductible. We expect these payments at the time of service, so be sure that whoever accompanies your child to the office brings the payment with them. You can pay by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or debit cards. Our check policy is posted at check-in and check-out. Co-payments are a contractual obligation between you and your health plan and between ABCD and your health plan; if they are not paid your insurance plan has the right to deny the charges, which may leave you responsible for the entire amount.

Secondary Insurance Claims. ABCD Pediatrics does file secondary insurance claims. Should you need further information or have any questions, please contact our insurance department.
