Yes, by clicking on ‘Pay Bill’ found on the site navigation menu. You will need to know your account number and total balance due to complete the online form and make your payment.

Most services are covered — however, we do recommend contacting your insurance company prior to your appointment to verify your plan benefits. You can also ask:

• Does your health plan require an assigned PCP (for example, an HMO)? If yes, verify that an ABCD Pediatrics provider is your assigned PCP. This usually will populate on your Member ID Card.

• Are there any limits on preventive care? How does it differ from coverage for sick visits?

• Do I have a co-pay or deductible?

• Do I have additional responsibility for services provided after hours?

While we always recommend scheduling an appointment ahead of time, ABCD Pediatrics does accept walk-in visits on a first-come, first-served basis.

Existing patients can schedule a well or sick visit online, minus the exceptions below*. You must type in your child’s name exactly as it appears in our records to be able to schedule an appointment online — please do not use any nicknames or alternate names.

*Types of visits that cannot be scheduled online:

• Any visits for an infant less than 2 months old

• First evaluation for ADD or ADHD

• Pre-operative clearance

• Injuries, such as broken bones or sprains

• Respiratory distress

• Shot-only or lab-only visits

You can schedule a shot-only appointment by calling our office.

You can schedule well visits up to one year ahead of time.

We respect your family’s time, and we try to get every patient in and out of the office as quickly as possible without ever compromising the level of care we provide. The best times to schedule your visit are early in the morning or immediately after lunch. However, if we have a lot of sick visits or emergencies that day, you may wait longer than usual. To save time, you are also welcome to request a “first available” appointment.

Yes, we see all sick children on the same day if possible. It’s always best to schedule an appointment ahead of time or call ahead for a same-day sick visit. We also offer walk-in visits on a first-come, first-served basis. 

If your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911. 

ABCD Pediatrics offers Saturday hours at select locations. You can also call our 24/7 clinical advice line and/or schedule a 24/7 virtual telehealth visit. Many after-hours issues are successfully resolved with at-home or virtual care, followed by an in-person visit to the office when necessary. 

After-hours care is available 24/7 for all ABCD Pediatrics patients. If your child is ill or has a problem that requires urgent treatment, give us a call. We can connect you with a provider who is trained to provide assistance by phone. 

We recommend writing down the following information, so you can refer to it during your call:

• Your child’s age

• Your primary concerns

• How long your child has experienced symptoms (and if they are getting worse)

• Anything you have already done to treat your child’s condition

• Your child’s temperature

• Your child’s intake of fluids and output of urine and stool

• Your child’s alertness (if you are concerned about lack of responsiveness, call 911 for emergency care)

We will also ask for your phone number so we can call you back if necessary.

Yes, all ABCD Pediatrics offices have separate well and sick waiting areas. Please follow the posted signs and sit in the appropriate section.

If your child is admitted to a hospital where our providers have been granted privileges, one of our affiliated hospitalists will visit your child and keep your ABCD Pediatrics provider informed about their condition. A post-hospital visit is usually scheduled here after your child is discharged. Please be sure to bring your discharge summary to this follow-up visit.

After your child turns 3, they begin getting annual checkups once a year, plus sick visits as needed. Scheduling annual checkups around your child’s birthday is a good way to stay on track.

• During your child’s first year, well visits are scheduled 3 days after birth, then at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.

• During your child’s second year, well visits are scheduled at 15 months, 18 months, and 24 months.

• During your child’s third year, well visits are scheduled at 30 months and 36 months.

For continuity of care, ABCD Pediatrics encourages you to schedule all well visits with your child’s primary provider. However, we cannot guarantee that your primary provider will be available for same-day sick visits.

A well-child visit (also called a preventive or annual physical exam) is a routine appointment focused on your child’s overall health and development. It typically includes a review of your child’s medical, family, and social history; age-appropriate screenings and immunizations; developmental assessments; physical examination; and preventive health counseling.

A Combined Care visit happens when your child’s clinician addresses and completes more than one type of care during the same appointment. This may include completing a well-child visit during a sick visit, if your child is due, or addressing additional medical concerns during a scheduled well-child visit. Combined Care visits allow families to take care of everything in one visit rather than scheduling a return appointment.

Well-child visits are considered preventive care and are typically covered by insurance at no cost to you. However, when additional concerns or conditions are evaluated and managed during the same visit, insurance plans may apply additional copays, deductibles, or coinsurance based on the patient’s specific benefits. This billing reflects the additional time, medical decision-making, and complexity involved in addressing concerns beyond the preventive exam.

Preventive services typically covered as part of a well-child visit include: a conversation about your child’s medical history (including social and family history), height and weight screening, age-appropriate immunizations (based on your plan’s coverage), developmental and behavioral screenings, routine physical examination, and preventive health counseling such as nutrition and safety guidance.

Additional billing may apply when your child’s clinician evaluates or manages concerns beyond the preventive exam, such as new symptoms (fever, cough, rash, ear pain), chronic or ongoing conditions (asthma, allergies, ADHD), medication concerns or prescription refills, behavioral or mental health evaluations, and certain specialized screenings (autism evaluations, adolescent depression screenings, and similar) that fall outside your plan’s preventive coverage.

Most insurance plans cover the preventive portion of a well-child visit at no cost. However, coverage for additional services to address conditions or concerns varies by plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand your specific benefits, including any copays, deductibles, or coinsurance that may apply to non-preventive services.

Absolutely. If you prefer to keep your visit focused on only what your child was initially scheduled for, you can let your child’s clinician know. Any additional care can be scheduled as a separate return appointment. However, many families find it more convenient to address everything in one visit rather than making an additional trip to the office. Your clinician will always prioritize your child’s health and safety, so if a concern requires immediate attention, they will discuss this with you.

Sometimes additional services that were already documented and provided during your child’s visit are identified through a post-visit review and billed accordingly.

A virtual telehealth visit is a video conference with an ABCD Pediatrics provider that can often replace an in-office visit, based on certain qualifying conditions. 

First, download the KidzDocNow app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once the app is downloaded, locate your doctor by entering the practice codeDBFADA . Next, enter your patient portal username and password. (If you do not have that information, click on the “Forgot Username or Password” link.) It will ask you to create a PIN number, then prompt you to confirm the PIN to make signing on easier in the future.

Once you have access to the patient portal, you can schedule a virtual telehealth visit online or call our office directly.

ABCD Pediatrics provides virtual telehealth visits 24/7 for your convenience. 

Yes, our providers can often treat minor illnesses, injuries, and other health concerns virtually. We begin the visit by asking specific questions about your child’s medical history, then observe your child via video. In many cases, this process is enough to make a diagnosis and create a treatment plan. Your virtual provider also has access to your child’s medical records and can prescribe medication(s).

If your child needs an in-person visit for any reason, we will help you schedule one to ensure your child gets a complete and comprehensive evaluation.

It’s best to conduct the visit in a private, quiet, and well-lit area with a stable internet connection. Turn off the TV to minimize distractions, and put other children or pets in another room. For safety reasons, you should never conduct a virtual telehealth visit from a moving vehicle.

We recommend preparing just like you would for an in-office visit, jotting down any questions or concerns ahead of time. We also recommend logging on a few minutes early in case there are any technical issues. Your child (the patient) must be present for the visit. Please also have your child’s current medication list nearby. 

Yes, you will receive a text message and email confirming your child’s appointment details, including the date, time, and instructions for joining the visit.

All telehealth visits are conducted through the KidzDocNow app. Existing patients are not required to pay any fees in advance. Instead, we will bill your insurance company. You are responsible for any portion the insurance company does not cover. For self-pay families, a telehealth visit costs $59.

If ABCD Pediatrics has not seen your child for the condition you want a specialist referral for, you must schedule an appointment first. If your child has already been seen, please visit the patient portal to make your referral request. We will contact you when the referral is ready (usually within 5-7 business days).

Parents and requesters must use VitalChart’s Online Request Portal to submit a request for medical records. Patients and requesters usually receive the records 24-48 hours after submission. VitalChart provides bilingual customer support for anyone who needs help using the request portal and/or checking their record status. Call VitalChart at (972) 399–0914  or email pediatricassociates@vital-chart.com for assistance.  

Paper requests can also be made at the office by downloading and filling out this Medical Records Request Form. 

Please contact our office directly to make your request. Your form will be completed within 3-5 business days.

Contact the physician’s office you are transferring from and ask for your child’s records to be released to us.

You can schedule and manage appointments, access your child’s medical records (including visit summaries, lab results, vaccines and immunizations, and medications), request referrals, pay your bill, and more — all in one convenient place.

You will receive an email from ABCD Pediatrics with a username and password that gives you access to the portal with any web browser or the healow™ app. (If you don’t see the email, please check your spam folder.) You can customize your password after your initial login.

Check your inbox for a confirmation email. (If you don’t see the email, please check your spam folder.) In the email, click on “Set up portal account” and follow the steps.

Your practice code is included in the welcome e-mail for your family’s account. You’ll find it at the bottom of the e-mail. 

Yes, all information stored on the patient portal is protected by industry-standard SSL encryption and the username and password of your choice.

Go to the patient portal, click on the “Trouble logging in?” link, and follow the prompts.

To see all patients on the same account, they must be listed under the same guarantor. To request this change, please email portal.central@pediatricassociates.com.

No, both the patient portal and the healow™ app are free for all ABCD Pediatrics patients.

1. In the “Appointments” section, click “New Appointment.”

2. Select the visit reason and your ABCD Pediatrics location of choice.

3. You will see a provider list, plus the next available appointment.

4. Select the date and time you prefer and add your appointment details.

5. A 4-digit verification code will be sent to the phone number listed on your account.

6. Enter the code, then click “Verify and Book.”

7. You will see your appointment details in the “Dashboard” section of the portal.

In the “Medical Records” section, click “Lab Diagnostic Report’’ to view your child’s results.

In the “Medical Records” section, click on “Immunization History” to view your child’s immunization records.

In the “Messages” section, click on “Refill Requests” and you will see a list of your child’s current medication(s). Select the medication(s) you need and click “Refill Request.” If no refills are available, we recommend scheduling an appointment in the “Appointments” section.

A proxy account allows a designated individual to access and manage another person's health information. Parents and legal guardians typically use a proxy account to access their child(ren)'s records.

In adherence with the Cures Act, parents and legal guardians will receive login credentials that allow them to access multiple children’s information with one single login.



Note: Patients are eligible to have access to their own portal account after age 12, depending on state regulations.
